When i first started making brooches about 7ish years ago i had no idea that they would end up being such a staple at my shows and on my website.

You have no idea how much joy it brings me when i see my pieces randomly out in the wild wearing a little tulip or kitty brooch on a beautiful jacket or one of the special collab hearts i’ve created exclusively for “maison corazon”

But i wanted to help create some tips and tricks in this section to help you obtain a long life with your piece because as these pieces have become super popular i get some sad little tales at shows from time to time and i want to reiterate some details

  • many ( nearly all ) the pieces are made from porcelain which means they are not equal to metal or enamel - they can / will break IF PUT IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS.

  • MY #1 tip is to fasten the piece on the garment while it’s on a couch or bed - if you FUMBLE while looking in the mirror OR drop it on tile, cement or hard floors there is a probability a piece may break off

  • take off the brooch before laundering - it will not survive the cycle

  • avoid high traffic areas on your garment - by this i mean seatbelts, purse straps, oR any area where you can expect pulling. ( although these pieces looks great everywhere please notE that attaching them to objects like purses, straps, backpacks etc arent reccomended )

  • keep them in a safe place like a dish or box

  • EACH PIECE IS SPECIAL AND OOAK - I CANNOT EASILY REPLACE OR REPLICATE ESPECIALLY IF ITS MORE THEN 6-12 MONTHS OLD.

*** i cannot replace or “fix” a broken piece. if you have a brooch with a dangling pearl or piece again please be aware of the area you affix it to.

as for the pearl and beaded jewelry my suggestions are

  • do not swim or shower with pieces

  • avoid lotions and perfumes

  • i work with raw OOAK pearls and cannot replace them with a replica.

  • weAR YOUR PIECES WITH CARE - THEY ARE HANDMADE AND SPECIAL.

  • PLEASE READ SIZING AND MEASUREMENTS - I CANNOT ADJUST A PIECE THAT IS ALREADY MADE - IF YOU NEED A SPECIFIC SIZE PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL PRIOR REGARDING A REQUEST.

  • SUPPLIES ARE LIMITED AND BASED ON DEMAND. MY COMPONENTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO BE IN STOCK FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME - I ORDER IN VERY SMALL BATCHES TO BE SUSTAINABLE.
